Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale faces an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium after falling down the pecking order.

The Arsenal stopper is likely “interested” in a move away from the Gunners in the January transfer window, according to Dan Kilpatrick.

The reporter, speaking on the Transfer Show – via the Sky Sports website – recalled what Ramsdale told him in October about his future after he had lost his place to David Raya.

However, Kilpatrick has also acknowledged that Arsenal likely won’t let the £120,000-a-week man go anywhere in the January transfer window.

“I spoke to Aaron Ramsdale on England duty back in October,” he began.

‘I definitely think he will be interested in a move’

“And he more or less said then, and he had only recently lost his place to David Raya, that if he could not get back into the Arsenal team he would have to consider his options because of his concern for his England place.

“He was only playing in the domestic cups and Arsenal are now out of both so his prospects of playing in the second half of the season look really bleak.

“From a personal point of view, I think Ramsdale would be interested in a move away from Arsenal. He wants to be in that England squad for the European Championship. He’s said as much.

“I definitely think he will be interested in a move but whether Arsenal are is a different thing.

“I think Mikel Arteta has been pretty clear that he doesn’t want to lose Ramsdale and said it would take an astronomical offer to get him out of the club this month.”

Difficult situation for Aaron Ramsdale and Arsenal alike

Aaron Ramsdale‘s Arsenal future has been the subject of speculation for a few months now, after unceremoniously slipping down the Gunners pecking order.

The England international joined Arsenal in 2021 for a reported £30million and quickly dethroned Bernd Leno to become first-choice in between the sticks.

Ramsdale was the Gunners first-choice stopper for two seasons, but this changed earlier this season after Arsenal signed David Raya and eventually made him No. 1.

It’s a difficult situation for the 25-year-old, and you can understand why he’d want to move away as soon as possible.

At the same time, Arsenal moving Ramsdale on mid-season would be an act of self-sabotage by the club. What if he moves on and Raya gets injured and suspended? They can’t afford to do that sort of thing.
