West Ham’s Alphonse Areola statistically put in the best performance by a goalkeeper in the Premier League this season at Everton on Saturday.
The Hammers made it back-to-back wins in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park.
It’s fair to say that a couple of wins is exactly what David Moyes needed after previously being winless since the turn of the year.
Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez were all on target as West Ham came from behind in Merseyside.
Despite their flurry of goals in the second half, Moyes’ men had Alphonse Areola to thank for still being in the game by this point.

The Frenchman made a series of excellent saves in the first half, including a stop to deny Beto from the penalty spot after Zouma was penalised for handball.
Areola was helpless to prevent Beto from netting with a header in the 56th minute but he stopped Everton from taking a two-goal lead with an exceptional stop to deny Dwight McNeil.
And according to the statistics site WhoScored, Areola’s display is the best of any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

Areola put in best display of any goalkeeper this season vs Everton
WhoScored handed Areola a rating of 9.74 for his display against Sean Dyche’s men yesterday.
He picked up the Man of the Match award as he made a total of nine saves at Goodison Park.
His rating of 9.74 was also the highest-rated by a goalkeeper in England’s top flight this season.
After previously struggling to displace Lukasz Fabianski following his £11 million switch from Fulham, Areola has established himself as West Ham’s main man between the sticks this season.
The Hammers certainly relied on him yesterday and without a series of brilliant saves, the result could have easily gone against Moyes’ side.
