Wolverhampton Wanderers brought in plenty of eye-catching additions for last season’s promotion push. Many of those new arrivals proved to massively successful. However, others simply never made the impact Wolves wanted.
One such player was Rafa Mir. The young Spaniard joined up with his former Valencia manager Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux. As reported by The Sun, Wolves paid just £1.5 million for his services – beating Real Madrid to the deal. However, with Wolves looking settled, he struggled to make a name for himself in the Midlands.
Despite scoring 15 goals in 19 games for Valencia B, he managed no goals in the four games he played for the Wolves first-team.

With that in mind, and Wolves now in the Premier League, he was sent out on loan this summer to Las Palmas.
His form with the La Liga 2 side has been decent enough. Two goals from seven appearances, mostly as a winger, should not be shirked at. But his recent form with the Spanish under-21s has been far more inspiring.
Mir bagged two goals in the 7-2 win over Iceland last night, adding to his winning goal against Albania last week.
When combined with the goals he got against Northern Ireland and Albania in the last international break, it takes his under-21 tally to five goals in four games. For club and country, that is seven in 11 – a pretty impressive tally.
Wolves will no doubt be keeping tabs on his form this season. At just 21 he still has an opportunity to become a future Wolves star. If he can translate his free-scoring form to Las Palmas, then the excitement will truly build.
