£10m Tottenham man is one of biggest winners from Antonio Conte arrival
Tottenham Hotspur had to work hard against a resilient Watford outfit on New Year’s Day.
However, Antonio Conte’s charges managed to get over the line, deep into stoppage time.
Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute of injury time.
The Colombia international headed in from Son Heung-min’s cross to send the travelling fans into raptures.
Conte continued his unbeaten league start with Spurs, who climbed to fifth in the table.
The Italian has transformed Tottenham quickly, with previously struggling players now in great form.
One player in particular has seen his Spurs career gain a new lease of life under Conte.
Ben Davies once again shone for Tottenham, delivering a solid display.
The £10million man defended stoutly and brought the ball out of defence well.
Davies also tried to support Sergio Reguilon down the left when possible.
The Wales international’s stats from the Watford game (Whoscored) make for impressive reading.
He took 95 touches of the ball and made 84 passes – including one key pass – with 89.3 percent accuracy.
Davies also delivered one accurate cross and six accurate long balls, in addition to winning four aerial challenges and making three tackles.
Prior to Conte arriving at Tottenham, Davies was seen as a decent rotational player.
But now, the 28-year-old is one of the first names on the Italian’s team sheet, and deservedly so.
