Micah Richards has claimed that Arsenal target and Brentford star Ivan Toney is worth £100 million.

The Englishman has been the talk of the town following his return from his ban last weekend. His future is still in the news, and Richards has explained why he thinks the Arsenal target is worth a fortune.

Micah Richards says Arsenal target Ivan Toney is worth £100 million

Almost everybody who has watched Arsenal over the last two months believes the Gunners need a new striker.

Mikel Arteta‘s side haven’t had the greatest time in front of goal. They are underperforming their open-play xG by over eight goals (Understat), which is just not good enough.

Many feel signing a new striker could help Arsenal win the Premier League title this season, and nobody has been linked with a move to the Emirates more than Ivan Toney.

The Brentford striker has openly expressed his desire to play for a bigger club recently, and it is no secret that Arsenal really admire the 27-year-old.

Gary Lineker asked Micah Richards how much he thinks Toney is worth in today’s market amid claims Brentford are demanding an absolute fortune to let him go.

Richards replied on the Rest is Football podcast: “Considering when every time we talk on this podcast about who should a team sign – centre-forward, not wide forward – we go ‘Toney could be available, Osimhen could be available’, he then signed a new deal.

“Looking through it and you’re thinking ‘well, there’s not that much out there’ that could adapt to the Premier League when we’re talking about that – number nines can play all over but who’s ready-made for the Premier League, (Toney) – £100 million.”

Toney could be worth the big bucks

We don’t know if Ivan Tony’s value really should be as high as £100 million, but it makes sense why Brentford would want a fortune.

There are barely any elite centre-forwards available on the market who can guarantee 20 or more goals every season in the Premier League. Victor Osimhen is the only one other than Toney we can think of right now.

The England striker scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League games for Brentford last season, and there’s no reason why that number won’t go up if he’s at a club like Arsenal who create plenty of chances every game.

A move this month seems extremely unlikely, but we won’t be surprised at all if Arsenal go after Toney in the summer if they can’t sign Osimhen.

The Englishman could well be available for a cheaper fee then as he would’ve entered the final year of his contract at Brentford.
