Vlad Chiriches (Romania)

The second Napoli defender to make the list, Chiriches was half of Romania’s surprisingly solid back four throughout the qualifiers. Conceding only twice in the run up to the tournament was the best record in the qualification stages, and the former-Spurs man paired up perfectly with Dragos Grigore at the heart of the defence.

Just like Elseid Hysaj’s Albania, Romania will be confident that they can escape Group A, and they’re another side who’s defence will be key to any success they have.

Ashley Richards (Wales)

Now, hear me out. Richards featured heavily in Wales’ qualification campaign, with Chris Coleman’s 3-5-2 formation, he was deployed as a right wing-back and provided the majority of the Welsh’s width on the right hand side.

A poor season for his club Fulham may have put Richards starting place under some serious consideration, but his international form speaks for itself. One of a number of unsung heroes in the Wales squad who are often overshadowed by the brilliance of Gareth Bale, but the 25 year old is only just establishing himself on the club scene.

If Coleman opts for a four-at-the-back system, Richards may struggle to start, but if he does play, he could be one of many Welsh players who may impress more expected.
