Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Orkun Kokcu, one of the most highly rated rising stars in European football.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are ready to go head-to-head with north London rivals Arsenal over the 20-year-old midfielder, who was linked with the Gunners last year.
The outlet claims that Tottenham have communicated with Orkun’s representatives to register their interest and will continue to be updated on the Feyenoord ace’s future.
Despite his young age, Kokcu has already made 71 senior appearances for Feyenoord, registering 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, and is a senior Turkey international.
The Eredivisie side managed to tie him down to a new five-year contract last year, but with the club’s finances not at their healthiest, he’s now open to a move away.
“I still have a contract until 2025, but the situation has changed,” Kokcu told Voetbal International in March.
“Feyenoord have been very open about the financial situation, and it is clear that the club is ending up in the minus.
“If a club comes to me with a good story and Feyenoord can make money from it, I can imagine that I will listen to it.”
Kokcu has registered some impressive stats this season, as detailed on Whoscored.
Attacking-wise, he has averaged 2.1 shots, 1.6 key passes and 0.8 dribbles in the league, and he’s contributed defensively, with 1 tackle, 0.3 interceptions, 0.3 clearances per game on average.
Passing-wise, he has averaged 1.6 key passes, 41.4 passes, 0.6 crosses and 1.8 long balls per game, with his passing accuracy averaged at 84.4.
Kokcu is currently out due to illness, but in his last game, against FC Emmen, he pretty much ran the show, with a goal, six shots, one key pass, two dribbles, and 60 passes at 88.3 percent accuracy.
Kokcu is talented, has impressed in a tough league, has plenty of years ahead of him and shouldn’t break the bank – he definitely sounds like a good shout for Spurs.
