0 tackles made, 0 accurate crosses: £15m Tottenham man was shocking v Fulham tonight

Tottenham had an absolutely disastrous night at Fulham this evening as they were hammered 3-0 by the Cottagers live on Sky Sports.

After hammering Aston Villa last weekend, spirits were high in the Tottenham camp. And with only Micky van de Ven out through injury, there was little in the way of complaints in terms of squad selection for Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham had a defensive nightmare all night and that was on display as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg laid into Pedro Porro at one point in the second 45 minutes.

Defensively, Tottenham had a nightmare and it looked like Fulham might score every time they went forward. Indeed, it would have 4-0 had it not been for VAR ruling out another.

While Van de Ven was out for Spurs, the rest of the back four, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, and Pedro Porro were all available.

However, all three, along with Radu Dragusin, got caught out so much all night.

And for £15m signing Udogie, it was one of the worst performances of his Tottenham career.

Like so many in the game, Udogie looked off it from just a naked eye point of view. But the stats, too, backed up just how poor he was.

Per WhoScored, Udogie had a nightmare defensively as he recorded a big fat zero in terms of tackles made, interceptions, and blocked shots.

Of course, Udogie’s game is about getting forward as well. But even there, he had a stinker, as he recorded zero accurate crosses and never managed a single shot at goal. Finally, out of the entire back four, Udogie had a low of just 40 passes all night. Comparatively, centre-back Romero had more than double at 83.

Udogie, then, will need to go away and assess his game. Yes, it’s just one performance. But on the whole, the Italian will be keen to put things right and quickly get back to his best form after the international break.
