Twitter reacts to Raheem Sterling’s recent contract stand-off

Written by

On Monday evening Liverpool the news came out that Raheem Sterling – the club’s young player of the season – was unhappy at the club and would reject any contract offered to him. Sterling even made claims to feeling “bullied” into signing a new contract with the club and hit out at the Reds for failing to protect him from bad headlines.

Sterling has repeatedly rejected any Liverpool approach to offer him a new contract throughout the season as the Merseyside club looked to tie him down with figures reported around £160k a week. The England international also added fuel to the fire a month ago when he claimed to be flattered by interest shown in him by Arsenal in an interview for BBC’s “Football Focus” he apparently conducted without the clubs permission.

Despite allegations of greed from fans and members of the football community, Sterling has claimed it is success and not money that lead him to believe his future is better off elsewhere. With 2 years left on his contract Liverpool have a tough decision to make whether to let him see his contract out or cash in while they can. One thing is for certain there will be no shortage of potential buyers for the European Golden Boy.
