How Twitter reacted to Reading signing Sone Aluko from Fulham

Reading completed the signing of Fulham forward Sone Aluko in a deal reported to be worth around £7.5 million, according to BBC Sport. The 28-year-old has signed four-year-contract with the club and will be hoping to help fire his new club to the Premier League. He leaves Craven Cottage after only one season, in which he contributed eight goals and ten assists.

This has been a move that has been rumbling on under the radar for a number of months and Fulham have done well to bring in the fee that they have. They signed Aluko on a free transfer last summer and have made a significant profit at the hands of a Championship rival.

There will be some that think Fulham have made the wrong decision as they have strengthened a team that finished above them last season. However, it is up to the Cottagers to bring in a better replacement and become stronger, despite the departure of Aluko.

Reading have wanted to add pace and directness to their attack this summer. Aluko provides that and he is a player that is proven in this division. The Royals came very close to promotion last season and will be hoping the addition of the Nigerian international will give them the injection of quality that they need. Although some will suggest they overpaid, it won’t matter if he helps them reach the Premier League.

Jaap Stam had the following to say on the arrival of Aluko:

“With his pace and ability on the ball, he can make life difficult for every opponent we face,”

“He poses a threat going forward, he keeps the ball well, he can play as a striker or out on the wing and I am sure he will improve us as a squad.”

Here is how Twitter reacted to the news:

Reading fans were pleased with his arrival:

However, Fulham fans had a mixed response:
