How Twitter reacted to Everton rejecting West Ham’s bid for Kevin Mirallas

Written by

Everton have rejected a loan offer from West Ham for Kevin Mirallas, according to Sky Sports. The Hammers are keen to add to their midfield options before the transfer deadline and the Belgian winger is one of their targets. They let Robert Snodgrass leave the club to join Aston Villa on a season-long loan and they are now lacking squad depth.

Mirallas has been a prominent figure for the Toffees since joining in 2012. He has played 177 times for the club and has scored 38 goals. This isn’t a bad return, but his scoring rate isn’t as good as they need from a starting winger. Although he has featured four times for the club this season, he was left out of the squad for the trip to Chelsea. Ronald Koeman is concerned with his attitude and openly questioned the player after the match.

The Belgian has three years left on his current contract and Everton are under no pressure to let him leave. However, the recent comments from the Toffees’ boss suggest that there could be a possibility of the winger leaving before the transfer deadline day. The terms of the loan offer haven’t been reported, but it could be that the Merseyside club want to bring in a replacement before letting Mirallas leave.

It isn’t a surprise that West Ham want to bring Mirallas to the club, as he fits the profile that many of their summer signings have had. They have opted for players in their late 20s with plenty of experience in the Premier League. He would be a good addition to their squad, but as things stand, a deal looks unlikely.

West Ham may have to turn their attentions elsewhere if they are to add the midfield reinforcements that they want. If this is the end of their Mirallas pursuit, it is good that their advances were rejected early, as it gives them time to move on other targets.

Here is how Twitter reacted to West Ham’s rejected bid:
