Manchester United round-up: Shock move for Manchester City’s Joe Hart; Mourinho wants dream front three; Chelsea reaction

The Daily Mail have sensationally claimed that if David De Gea moves to Real Madrid, the club could turn to Manchester City hero Joe Hart. The England international is currently on loan at Torino in Serie A but is expected to be sold on a permanent deal in the summer when he returns, where he could move across the city to his current club’s arch rivals in what would be a controversial move.

The experienced goalkeeper would be a quality replacement should De Gea leave and would also bring a proven track record in the Premier League, but his history at the Etihad Stadium, where he has spent most of his career, is unlikely to go down well with the Old Trafford faithful if he does make the move between neighbours.

Hart could be joined in the summer by two more big signings in the form of Antoine Griezmann and Romelu Lukaku, say the Sun. They report that Jose Mourinho is planning to splash the cash and is prepared to spend up to £160 million on the duo to bring them in to line up alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in what would be one of the Premier League’s most potent attacks.

Mourinho is keen to play with a strong front three and believes that they would bring a wealth of goals and could also provide cover for each other should there be injuries or suspensions, with the goals having dried up in the absence of Ibrahimovic at times this season.

That wasn’t the case on Sunday though as the Swede started on the bench with Marcus Rashford taking just seven minutes to open the scoring in an impressive victory over Chelsea. In a crucial win, Jose Mourinho told the club website of his pride in his players, saying:

“I think everyone did what they had to do. Everybody fought really hard. Bailly and Rojo, I think they deserve a special mention because they have played in absolutely every game, non-stop, since the injuries of Smalling and Jones.

“But I am really happy with the team and the results, because the Manchester City and Liverpool results left us in the position of needing to win. Not even a draw would be a good result for us, so I am really happy for the boys and for us because we keep two windows open to try to play Champions League football.”

Andre Herrera set up one goal before taking the shot which was deflected in for the second to put the Red Devils in a great position as they chase a top-four finish in the Premier League this season by taking three points off the league leaders.
