Cristiano Ronaldo has his heart set on rejoining Manchester United, according to ex-Bernabeu chief Ramon Calderon in an interview with The Sun. The Spaniard said: ““The club has been very important in his career. Manchester United is a club he has in his heart.”
However, Marca have reported that the Portuguese star has a £1 billion release clause that needs to be triggered in order for Ronaldo to leave, yet, the current Champions League holders acknowledge how unrealistic this valuation is and would settle for a fee around £150 million, according to The Sun.
A move to United would see Ronaldo link up with Jose Mourinho again, who, as suggested by the same report in The Sun, had their differences during the former Chelsea boss’ spell with the Spanish club. However, United do still have Sir Alex Ferguson on hand to smooth over the differences and potentially help bring Ronaldo back to the Premier League.
Another forward linked with the Red Devils is that of PSV star, Jurgen Locadia. The Dutchman has been quite outspoken of his desire to play for Manchester United, as he said: “Manchester United is my dream, but via an intermediate step,” in an interview with Dutch public broadcaster NOS, as referenced by several reputable sources, such as the Express and Manchester Evening News.
The winger, who missed most of last season through injury, featuring only 14 times, stated his desire to follow the path of compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum. The Liverpool man joined Newcastle from PSV before signing for the Reds. Locadia suggested he would use a club as a stepping stone to display his ability, in the hope of sealing a transfer to the Red Devils.
At the other end of the field, United are said to be interested in bringing Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to the club. The Metro reported that both Jose Mourinho’s side and Liverpool have been told that the Danish shot-stopper will cost them £50 million.
Schmeichel has family links to United, having grown up with his dad undergoing a successful period as their number one. After impressing for Leicester over the past few seasons, he could be ready to make the move north and follow in his dad’s footsteps.
