The Telegraph say that as Manchester United desperately seek to secure a deal with Serie A giants Inter Milan for their winger Ivan Perisic, the San Siro club have demanded Anthony Martial in exchange. Perisic is keen on the potential move but United have yet to meet Inter’s £49 million valuation, leading to the club requesting Martial.
The deal would see the French forward head to Milan on loan, effectively as a replacement for Perisic in the upcoming season. United have been reluctant to allow Martial to leave so far this summer, but it may be the only way for them to secure a deal for the Croatian without meeting their asking price.
He could be followed out of the exit door by David de Gea if Real Madrid continue to increase their interest in the goalkeeper, and the Mirror report that Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel could be his replacement at Old Trafford. United would demand at least £60 million for their Spanish goalkeeper, with only half of that required to satisfy the Foxes’ £30 million asking price.
Schmeichel’s father was a hero in Manchester after his successful spell under Sir Alex Ferguson and Kasper has long held the club in high regard. Now that his side are out of European football after a disappointing Premier League campaign last season, the move may tempt him to leave the club despite signing a five year deal last summer.
He may not have the opportunity to play alongside full-back Matteo Darmian though as Italian agent Gianluca di Marzio says that Manchester United are trying to sell the Italian international this summer. Jose Mourinho was not convinced by the former Torino man and he could not return to Serie A.
Darmian was in and out of the side last season, often playing out of his preferred position on the left side of defence with Luke Shaw suffering from injury.
