It seems like the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga may finally be coming to an end – at least for this summer – with the Mirror claiming that the Chilean is resigned to staying at Arsenal this season.
Arsenal manager has insisted repeatedly throughout the summer that the 28-year-old won’t be leaving for Manchester City, as reported by BBC Sport, and it appears that the Frenchman has his wish.
Sanchez is currently entering the final year of his contract at the Emirates but, with negotiations failing to take place yet, there is a chance he could be available on a free transfer this time next year.
The Guardian had claimed last month that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was secretly growing confident about a deal for Sanchez, but he may now have to try again during next summer’s window.
Meanwhile, Manchester City’s midfield talisman David Silva is allegedly going to refuse the offer of a new contract at the Etihad as he aims to negotiate a move back to La Liga, claim new Spanish reports.
El Gol Digital believe that a verbal agreement is already in place between Silva and Las Palmas, with the 31-year-old set to join them on a free transfer once his current contract at City expires in June 2019.
Silva – who was born on the isle of Gran Canaria where Las Palmas play their football – will return home after two more seasons in the Premier League, providing they manage to sustain their top-flight status.
The Spanish international arrived at Manchester City from La Liga side Valencia in a £24 million deal back in 2010, and has been influential in helping them to two Premier League titles and one FA Cup.
Finally, one player looks set to be leaving the Etihad a little sooner than Silva as reports surfacing from France believe that young forward Patrick Roberts is poised to have a season-long loan at OGC Nice.
Sources close to Nice-Matin – a local news outlet for south-east France – believe that the Ligue 1 outfit are currently going through the formalities of finalising a loan move for the 20-year-old star.
Roberts is a highly-talented young prospect and spent the past 18 months on-loan at Scottish champions Celtic, helping them to an unbeaten season by scoring eleven times in 47 appearances.
And it is understood that a move could be announced very soon, with Nice having until Monday at midnight to register and submit their squad for the Champions League qualifier with Serie A’s Napoli.
