In a shock last minute twist The Sun have claimed that Brazilian defender Dani Alves is set to sensationally snub a move to Manchester City in favour of French giants Paris-Saint Germain.
It has been alleged this morning that the 34-year-old is poised to sign a two-year deal in France on Wednesday afternoon worth an astonishing £230,000-per-week – earning him around £12m a year.
This is double what the Citizens offered the right-back, proving to be the decisive factor for Alves choosing a move to France over England.
This will come as a huge blow for City boss Pep Guardiola, with The Guardian reporting in recent weeks that an agreement was put in place for Alves to re-unite with him at the Etihad next season.
After allowing Pablo Zabaleta, Jesus Navas and Bacary Sagna leave at the end of the season the Spaniard had looked at both Alves and Kyle Walker – but it appears that the Tottenham man is now his priority.
Yet, reports from French outlet L’Equipe have revealed that Manchester City have joined the race for PSG’s current right-back Serge Aurier, after missing out on Alves.
With the Brazilian set to arrive over the next week – and take the Ivorian’s spot in the first-team – the report claims Aurier’s departure could be imminent, with the Citizens monitoring his situation.
The 24-year-old has already been in competition with up-and-coming Belgian international Thomas Meunier over the past year, and the addition of another right-back would push him further down the pecking order.
Aurier managed 20 starts for PSG last season, and it is thought that they would start considering offers around the region of £20 million. That is £10 million more than they bought him for back in 2015.
Meanwhile, reports from Brazil have claimed that Manchester City have secured the signing of promising young Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Vasco da Gama in a move worth £10.7 million.
Globoesporte understand that the 19-year-old has been tracked by Guardiola over the past 12 months ahead of a proposed move, and an agreement has finally been made between both clubs.
Luiz is expected to be sent out on-loan to newly-promoted La Liga side Girona next season to continue experiencing regular first-team football, with the long-term view that he is a big part of City’s future.
The youngster – who scored three times in 24 appearances for Vasco da Gama this season – is tipped to be one of the world’s hottest prospects, and has already played five times for Brazil’s Under-20 team.
