According to reports coming from the Mirror, Arsenal are set to block Manchester City moving for talisman Alexis Sanchez – leaving the door wide open for Bayern Munich to take him to Germany.
It is believed that City manager Pep Guardiola is prepared to fork out around £50 million to bring him to the Etihad but Arsene Wenger is set to do everything in his power to not sell to a rival top-flight side.
And the Mirror had reported just last week that the German giants were preparing a £40 million bid, worth a staggering £350,000-per-week, in order to steal him out of the clutches of the Citizens.
Despite Bayern Munich seemingly taking pole position in the race for the Chilean, it’s not out of the question that Arsenal will keep him at the Emirates for another year before letting him go on a free.
The 28-year-old managed 24 goals and 10 assists as Arsenal missed out on a top-four finish, and despite the report claiming he has been offered £275,000-a-week to stay at the Gunners an exit seems imminent.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports have alleged that talks are set to commence between Tottenham and Manchester City over the next week ahead of Kyle Walker’s proposed move to the Etihad Stadium.
It is understood that a deal for the 26-year-old defender, who is currently away on international duty ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against France, could be set in motion as soon as he returns from Paris.
City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly adamant that he can secure Walker for little more than £40million, but Tottenham are in no rush to get rid and could hold out for a fee closer to £50million.
The Independent broke the news in early May that tensions were rising between Walker and boss Pochettino after his lack of first-team football, with secondary right-back Kieran Trippier preferred for the critical matches against Arsenal in the Premier League and Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.
In spite of the stretched relationship with the Argentine, Walker was included in the recently announced PFA team of the year after an exceptional season, helping his side push Chelsea close for the title.
Finally, newly-crowned Premier League champions Chelsea are poised to make a move for free agent Willy Caballero after he was released from Manchester City a fortnight ago.
The Daily Mail report that the Blues are currently in discussions with Caballero’s representatives ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge, where the 35-year-old would be an understudy to Thibaut Courtois.
The veteran Argentine was part of a mass clear-out by Guardiola, who also released Jesus Navas, Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta – the latter of which has already moved to top-flight rivals West Ham.
Chelsea’s number two from last season, Asmir Begovic, completed a £10 million move to Bournemouth last month and that leaves boss Antonio Conte looking for a new goalkeeper this summer.
And Caballero would be a suitable back-up as Chelsea re-enter the Champions League next season, keeping eight clean sheets in 24 matches as he ousted Claudio Bravo from City’s number one spot.
