The Daily Mail report that Liverpool could join the race for Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, who the Ligue Un champions value at £100 million. The 18-year-old has supposedly been contacted by Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp as they make initial enquiries into a potential summer switch.
Having shot to fame this season with his impressive form in the Champions League, Mbappe has become a household name across Europe. Competition for the French international is stiff though, and Liverpool would have no choice but to spend big in order to secure his services.
It also seems that an agreement for Roma winger Mohamed Salah is increasingly near as Egyptian source Yallakora report that the Reds have offered £35 million up front with a further £4 million in add-ons. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport alternatively claim that a £36 million bid has met the asking price of the Italian club.
If true, the former Chelsea midfielder could return to the Premier League where he failed at Stamford Bridge. Given his convincing displays in Serie A, it seems that he is in a far stronger position to impress if he does head to Anfield now though, and he’ll have to be in order to justify his fee.
He will join Philippe Coutinho in attack after the Brazilian spoke on his birthday on Monday to deny speculation that he could head to Barcelona this summer. The Independent quote him as saying:
“Talking about this is complicated. I have a contract with my club and it is long. So my focus is on the present and the national team. My focus is here.”
The playmaker is expected to captain his country for the first time in a friendly fixture for Brazil against Australia this week. Now, it seems probable that his next game of football after that will be in the red of Liverpool.
