Despite slow progress in the last week or so, the Liverpool Echo claim that the Reds are determined to stick with their negotiations with Roma over winger Mohamed Salah, in an attempt to reach an agreement. They say that talks are still ongoing after a £28 million bid was rejected, with the Italians demanding closer to £40 million.
The Egyptian is thought to be keen on the move which would see him return to the Premier League after a disappointing spell at Chelsea in 2014. Liverpool may need to make progress soon if they are to reach an agreement though, as the club could be forced to move on to other targets if Roma are stubborn with their demands.
Another player who could join Salah on his way to Anfield is Porto’s young midfielder Ruben Neves, say Portuguese newspaper A Bola. The 20-year-old is currently preparing for the European Under 21s Championships with his national side, but is likely to be scouted with both Liverpool and Chelsea among the clubs chasing him.
A holding midfielder who can also play further forward in a central role, Neves may be concerned by the lack of progress with his development at Porto, having made just nine starts last season, after making 24 the year before. As such, Liverpool may hope that an attractive offer could be enough to convince him to England.
One player who does look almost certain to be sold this summer is defender Andre Wisdom. However, Sky Sports claim that a £2 million bid has been rejected from Derby for the 24-year-old.
Given that his last appearance for the Reds came in 2013, he is very likely to move on and would welcome a return to Derby following a successful loan spell there in the past. After impressing at Red Bull Salzburg last season, it now remains for a fee to be agreed between the two clubs.
