Watford announced arguably one of the under-rated signings of the summer so far late yesterday evening, with the Evening Standard confirming that Nathaniel Chalobah is set to arrive from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old midfielder will return to Vicarage Road for the first time since spending a year on-loan in the 2012-13 season, impressing on his way to making 42 appearances and scoring five goals.
Chalobah has endured a frustrating time at Stamford Bridge over the past few seasons, struggling to get regular first-team action up against the likes of Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas.
And, despite reports in the Mirror claiming, on Thursday, that Antonio Conte was preparing a new five-year contract worth £65,000-per-week, the Hornets have swooped in for a believed fee of £5 million.
Marco Silva’s side took to Twitter first to kick-off the social media frenzy…
Chalobah will wear squad number 14 for #WatfordFC

With Watford fans jubilant over their latest addition…
Chalobah to Watford is a great signing for #Hornets, his performances in the Euros were excellent and he's still developing ?

Chalobah/Hughes is a hell of a pairing in the middle of the park for Watford. Smart bit of work.

Can't help but smile at the options #WatfordFC will have in midfield this season!

It was a different story for Chelsea supporters though…
If Nathanial Chalobah had played for Monaco last season we'd currently be trying to sign him for £40 million rather than sell him for £10 ?

Chalobah the one that really feels like a punch in the face. Has everything to become a top player in the PL and never looked out of place.

I am really angry this morning. Woke up to the news that Nate Chalobah is joining Watford. #cfc

With some wondering why their academy players don’t get opportunities…
Fuming with Chalobah news. Why do we let these players go after everything we hear about the academy? Anywhere else he'd be a prized asset

Others praised Chalobah for chasing first-team football at Watford…
More of players like Chalobah moving to [mid table Prem or abroad] for first team football please. Can only be good for England.

Whilst some were focusing more on a potential incoming signing instead…
Bakayoko won the league & got to CL-semis last season. Chalobah is happy to go to Watford. How is that not an upgrade?
