BBC Sport have reported this afternoon that Everton have officially announced the signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in a deal that could rise to club record fee of £30million.

The 23-year-old has become the most expensive English goalkeeper on record, agreeing an initial deal worth £25million – a price that is set to rise including add-ons – and signing a five-year contract.

Pickford was the stand-out player in a woeful Sunderland outfit last season, alerting the attention of many tops sides heading in to the summer, and Ronald Koeman has acted fast to secure his man.

The new Everton ‘keeper is currently on international duty with the England Under-21 side ahead of their European Championship campaign in Poland and is heavily touted for the main team one day.

Speaking to Everton’s official website about the switch, Pickford said:

“This is an exciting time for the Club and for me, too, with the ambition being shown. I just want to be the best I can be to help.

“I remember playing [at Everton] on my first game back from injury last season for Sunderland. When I came out for the second half the fans gave me a clap and applauded then so I can’t wait to get out there on the pitch at Goodison.”

Some Everton supporters were over the moon at the official announcement…

Others were slightly more baffled by the high price-tag for youngster Pickford…

Whilst certain Sunderland fans are more focused on what they’ll be missing…

What do you think Everton fans? Will Pickford justify the hefty transfer fee? Let us know below.
