How Manchester United fans reacted to reports linking Antoine Griezmann with a huge-money switch

Written by

According to The Sun this morning, Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is in line for a £220,000 a week deal if he is to join Premier League giants Manchester United over summer.

The deal, which would see Griezmann earn the same as United record-signing and French teammate Paul Pogba, has allegedly been agreed between Manchester United chiefs and representatives of the 25-year-old during the past week.

United had reportedly identified the Atletico Madrid forward as their prime target last month, and The Sun now understands that Mourinho’s side are confident a deal can be agreed.

The news comes in the same week that Griezmann was named in the UEFA Team of the Year 2016, controversially beating Barcelona’s Luis Suarez to the striking role in the side.

United fans took to Twitter after the latest rumours to share their anticipation over the proposed move for the Atletico striker, praising the impact that the Euro 2016 finalist could have on Mourinho’s side.

Other United supporters were less pleased with the rumours, with one Twitter user in particular worried about the future of 19-year-old Marcus Rashford if Griezmann moved to Old Trafford.

Members of the Old Trafford faithful also expressed their concerns about Griezmann’s potential arrival, citing the number of attacking options that Manchester United already have at their disposal.

One United fan is already making the Griezmann rumours become a reality, after photo-shopping an image of the Atletico star onto a Manchester United kit.
