French source Telefoot say that both Chelsea and Manchester City have made a bid worth in the region of £44 million to £52 million for Kingsley Coman. The winger, who has won titles in France with Paris Saint-Germain, Italy with Juventus and now Germany with Bayern Munich, is tipped for big things.
At just 20-years-old, Coman is one of the brightest talents in world football and could look to test himself in the Premier League as he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot since picking up an ankle injury earlier this season, largely being restricted to appearances from the bench since then.
He would be odds on to add to his impressive list of titles should he join Chelsea as Antonio Conte leads the side from strength to strength. The Italian reacted to Monday night’s FA Cup victory over Manchester United by saying, as quoted by the club website:
“We must be pleased because to arrive in the semi-finals and play at Wembley gives us great satisfaction, above all for the work we’ve been doing this season. To play Man United is not easy, they have one of the best squads in the league and they showed that tonight… My point of view is that we want to play football and for the first 25 minutes it was impossible for Hazard to play because he got a lot of kicks. I’m not crazy and it’s not only me who saw it. He started [the game] receiving kicks and finished it receiving kicks, nobody can say that didn’t happen. A tactic doesn’t exist when you go to kick an opponent, it’s not football.”
The Blues will now face London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semi-final as they look to edge a step closer to securing a double as they also lead the Premier League standings.
Manchester City are also rivaling the Londoners for Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson, as the Express claim that Aitor Karanka’s club have demanded £30 million for the centre-back. The 24-year-old, who has been linked with an England call-up in the near future, has been ever-present for the club who brought him through the youth ranks.
Yet to miss a Premier League game this season in the team with the fourth best defensive record in the league, Gibson has been one of the surprises of the season. Given his home-grown status, Gibson will be a popular option in the summer and could represent a long term replacement for Blues captain John Terry.
