Chelsea round-up: Matic to force move; left-back to sign deal; City competition for Danilo

Chelsea could be left with a tough choice to make, as The Sun say that midfielder Nemanja Matic is desperate to move to Manchester United and could try to force through the move. Chelsea are reluctant to permit him to join one of their closest rivals but are aware that there is little interest in paying £40 million for a player whose contract will expire next summer.

That could mean that the Blues must decide whether to cash in or accept a lower price in an attempt to force him to move elsewhere. Either way, a solution could be found quickly as the Serbian has remained in the UK rather than travelling with the squad on their pre-season tour in order to sort his future.

In another huge transfer blow, Alex Sandro is set to sign a new contract at Juventus and reject the Blues, Sky Italia journalist Angelino Magniante has confirmed on Twitter. That will see him see his pay go from €55,000 (£47,000) per week to €77,000 (£67,000) per week as a reward for rejecting an offer of €115,000 (£100,000) per week.

Juventus have rejected a bid from Chelsea and now look set to secure the future of their star left back, denting yet another blow into the chances of a successful Premier League title defence for Antonio Conte. Now, Conte will be forced to consider alternatives to the Brazilian.

One may be his compatriot Danilo, the Real Madrid right back. However, there may be concerns emerging from Stamford Bridge over the signing of him too, as The Times say that Manchester City have surprisingly registered an interest in the former Porto star even after signing Kyle Walker from Tottenham.

They say that Danilo could be available for just £21 million, but that Chelsea will now face new competition from Pep Guardiola. After being humiliated by Manchester United in the race for Romelu Lukaku, and now Alex Sandro, the last thing Chelsea can afford is to slip up again with their pursuit of Danilo.
