Chelsea round-up: Argentine striker targeted; personal terms agreed with target; Remy targeted by trio

Written by

Chelsea are preparing a shock move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero. Spanish journalist Manu Sainz (a respected reporter for established newspaper AS) tweeted the Blues interest, and this was then confirmed by Sky Sports. It would be a sensational signing for the Blues to bring in a player with one of the most prolific records in the Premier League.

However, there was some differentiation between the two reports, with Sainz saying that Pep Guardiola had given the move the go ahead, whilst Sky Sports say that Manchester City do not want to sell. It would be a shock if City were to sell a star player to a title rival, but football is full of surprises.

A move seems closer for Real Madrid right-back Danilo, as Brazilian outlet Globoesporte say that the club have agreed terms with the 26-year-old. Danilo is currently in Los Angeles with the Real Madrid squad on a pre-season tour but if these reports are accurate, it may only be a matter of time before he is heading to London.

Danilo’s arrival would likely provide competition for Victor Moses in the right-wing-back role, whilst he may also be deployed on the left in place of Marcos Alonso if needed. Having played for Real Madrid and Porto as his last two clubs, he comes with good pedigree and plenty of experience.

He is unlikely to play alongside striker Loic Remy, though, as Metro claim that the Frenchman is on his way out of Chelsea with Southampton and Everton among the potential destinations. French side Marseille are also believed to be monitoring the forward, even after a disappointing loan spell at Crystal Palace last season.

Remy last played for the club in April 2016 but has made just 10 Premier League starts for the Blues since joining in 2014. After being sent on loan last season, he now looks likely to leave on a permanent deal.
