Chelsea round-up: England ace targeted; Conte demands Spanish star; Manchester United held Willian talks

Chelsea could launch a sensational cross-London move for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, say Sky Sports. The England international is also attracting interest from Manchester United and could be the second key Tottenham full-back to leave the club this summer after they saw Kyle Walker move to Manchester City.

27-year-old Rose would be a strong addition at full-back in order to give competition to Marcos Alonso in the wing-back role. With Victor Moses suspended this weekend, Cesar Azpilicueta is expected to fill in, but there is a distinct lack of depth in that position at wing-back.

Another option, this time on the right hand side, could be Barcelona ace Sergi Roberto. That’s according to Catalan newspaper Sport, who report that Antonio Conte is personally insisting that the Blues make a strong proposal to bring the 25-year-old to London if they can lure him away from Barcelona.

Roberto is also attracting interest from Juventus and Manchester United but is keen to stay at the Camp Nou. He is also capable of playing in central midfield, his preferred position, but he would like first team football wherever he decides to play his football beyond the closure of the transfer window at the end of this month.

One man going nowhere is Chelsea winger Willian. However, the Brazilian has revealed that there was contact from Manchester United over a potential move earlier this summer, only for Chelsea to rebuff their approach. Willian told Goal:

“There were a few conversations with my agent. I worked with Mourinho and I became his friend as well. He likes me a lot and I like him a lot as a coach and as a person. He has put his trust in me and in my work, and I was very grateful to him. Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I’m very happy at Chelsea.”

Willian started the game at Wembley in the Community Shield and is likely to be first choice at the start of the season with Eden Hazard recovering from a broken ankle.
