Arsenal round-up: Sanchez wants to leave; Everton target winger; Szczesny to join Italian giants

Arsenal fans have suffered their biggest fears as Alexis Sanchez heads towards the exit door. The Gunners’ star man, who has one year left on his contract, has been under intense speculation this summer regarding his future and now he seems to have suggested he wants to leave.

Speaking in his native Chile, as reported by the Telegraph and the Daily Mail, Sanchez said: “The decision isn’t only mine, but I have already made a decision. Now I’m waiting for Arsenal to reply and tell me what they want.”

When asked to clarify what he wanted, Sanchez added: “Playing in the Champions League and to win it. It’s a dream I have had since I was a kid. For now I’m at Arsenal, my contract ends next year.”

Having highlighted Champions League football as a key part of his aims, it looks clear that Sanchez will leave the club. The Gunners missed out on a top four spot and it seems the Chilean star doesn’t want to form part of a Europa League squad next season.

Another winger that looks likely to leave the London club this summer is Theo Walcott. The Mirror are reporting that Everton are readying a £30 million bid for the Englishman, who did not play a big role in Arsenal’s last campaign.

Big-spenders Everton want to add Walcott to add depth on the wings with Yannick Bolasie out with a long-term injury. Ronald Koeman has highlighted the England international as a key target, having seen Walcott spend most of last season on the bench with the Gunners. The Dutch manager has also contacted Leicester City about Demarai Gray’s availability.

Arsenal are also expected to sell goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny this summer as well as Walcott. The Poland international has spent the past two seasons on loan at Roma and now he may be heading back to Italy permanently.

The Serie A Champions, Juventus, are keen on signing the shot-stopper, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, as referenced by football.london and Football Italia. The Champions League runners-up are confident they can strike a deal worth £7.8 million, even though Arsenal are demanding £13.1 million.
