Arsenal round-up: Lyon midfielder considered; interest in Real Madrid full-back; goalkeeper being scouted

Arsenal will look to act quickly in the transfer window once the season is over as Arsene Wenger knows he has an enormous task on his hands when it comes to rebuilding the squad. The Mirror report that he is considering a move for Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso, who is eyeing a move away from the Ligue 1 club this summer. Although the French club would demand in excess of £30 million, the Gunners are believed to be one of the frontrunners for his signature. The 22-year-old is looking for a summer transfer to improve his chances of breaking into the French World Cup squad.

This season, he has contributed eight goals and four assists in Ligue 1, showing his quality in attack. He has a good eye for a pass and is offensive-minded when he has possession of the ball. At times this season, the Arsenal midfielders have struggled to influence matches and that is why Wenger is looking to improve that position in the summer. £30 million is a lot of money, but the finances are spiralling out of control in football and this could be a deal worth doing for the Gunners. Tolisso has a lot of potential and could develop into a fine centre midfielder, while he already has the ability to improve the squad at the Emirates Stadium.

Don Balon have reported that Arsenal could be ready to make a move for Real Madrid right-back Danilo. The 25-year-old has struggled to get into the team this season and is playing a supporting role to Dani Carvajal. He was once talked about as the ‘next Dani Alves’, but he has failed to live up to that billing and a move away from the Bernabeu could provide the new start that he needs. The report states that the Gunners view him as a replacement for Hector Bellerin, who could be heading back to Barcelona this summer.

He has played 16 times in La Liga this season and impressed at times, with his attacking flair and dynamism in attack, as shown by his contribution of a goal and two assists. However, he hasn’t reached the elite level that is required at Real Madrid and that is why they may be tempted to sell him this summer. It will be a culture change for the Brazilian if he swaps La Liga for the Premier League, but he has the talent to be a good signing for the Gunners if they do make a move for him.

Jack Butland could be on the move this summer after his recovery from a serious ankle injury. According to the Mirror, four of the top six have made scouting trips to look at the 24-year-old in recent weeks, including Arsenal. Although Manchester United and Manchester City are the two clubs most likely to enter the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, the Gunners are long-term admirers of the Stoke number one and could be tempted to make a move.

Arsene Wenger confirmed after the win over Sunderland that he was happy with his goalkeepers and that he would be unlikely to enter the market for another this summer. However, David Ospina has been linked with a move away and Wojciech Szczesny won’t be interested in being a number two at the Emirates Stadium when he returns from AS Roma. Arsenal could be forced into the market and Butland would be a great option for them. He has proven himself in the Premier League and could benefit from working under Petr Cech with the view of being his long-term replacement.
